Why did I ask Rachel if she wanted to start a blog with me? Because:
- She's f'ing hysterical
- We're good writers
- We're broke and heard that blogging is easier than prostitution
So here we are. I don't even know if this is going to be the real blog or not, because Rachel is having a baby any second and I figured I should just start writing to build up a little content until she gets a chance to write.
That's something to look forward to, because as I mentioned, she's f'ing hysterical.
For now, you have me.
When I was trying to figure out what to write about, I thought of what products we could review and what we'd possibly write about. We're very simple people without a whole lot of gadget and gear needs. I mean, yeah, I'd like to try the new Apple watch, but that's probably ONE entry. And then what?
No, we need to write about something that we know. Something we enjoy. Something that we seek out.
We need to write about cheap-ass wine.
(not "ass wine")
I probably have about three bottles of wine per week. That's 156 wine reviews per year, just from me alone! THAT, my friends, is a fricken' BLOG TOPIC.
"But Danielle," I hear you asking, "do you know anything about wine?"
EFF yes I know about wine! I may not have a developed palate to tell you when a certain vintage tastes of berries and crushed antique velvet, but I can talk about wine. I don't know what years were good seasons for Pinot Noir and what the ideal weather conditions are for grapes, but I can talk about wine.
I mean, what are we talking here? My goal is to spend less than $5 on every bottle, $10 max. Ok, maybe $12 if it's our anniversary or something.
This is a blog for you, the regular person. The person who goes to BevMo and doesn't even know what questions to ask their creepily helpful staff. The person who toes the line between "drinkable" while staying away from "holy shit this is a horrible hangover. my life is ruined." These aren't the kind of things you can talk to wine enthusiasts about.
But us? Sure. Totally. We got that.
We're looking for bottles to start with, so if you have suggestions for good, cheap wines, let us know in the comments.
